Ridge gourd (beerakaya) and Onion Curry





Ingredients
Quantity
Ridge gourd (beerakayalu)
250 grams
Onion (big)
1
Black gram(minapappu)
2 tablespoon
Channa dal(sanaga pappu)
2 table spoon
Mustard seeds(Aavalu)
1 table spoon
Fenugreek seeds(mentulu)
6 to 7
Dania seeds(dhaniyalu)
2 table spoon
Red chillis
7 to 8
Salt to taste

Oil
4 table spoon
  1. Preparation
    1.     First cut the ridge gourd into long pieces, keep it aside.
    2.     After cut the onion into small pieces and grind it into smooth paste keep it aside.
    preparation ( curry powder)
    3.     Heats the pan add oil to it. When the oil is heated Chana dal fry till start changing red color add black gram, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, Dania seeds, red chills fry till start changing red color then switch off the stove.
    4.     Wait till it’s cool down. After that grind all of them into a fine powder.
    5.     The curry powder is ready.

    6.     Then heats the pan add oil to it. When the oil is heated add ridge gourd pieces and cover the lid for 5to 10 minutes. After all the pieces of boiled then add the onion paste add salt .And cover to lid for 5 more minutes
    7.     Once done remove the lid add curry powder and stir it 2 to 3.minutes.
    8.     Then switch off the stove. The curry is ready. And transfer to a serving bowl. Serve hot with plain rice.
