Lemon dal (nimmakaya pappu)







Ingredients
Quantity
Tur dal (kandi pappu)
1 cup
Lemon (small)

Curry leaves
Few
Mustard seeds
1 tea spoon
Fenugreek seeds
1 tea spoon
Red chilli powder
1 tea spoon
Green chilly

To taste
Oil
1 table spoon
Garlic cloves

To garnish

Preparation method

  1. In a pressure cooker, place a cup of tur dal, turmeric powder, 2 1/2cups of water and cook up to 3 whistles. Then switch off the flame. cook till, the dal is soft. Mash dal and add cup of water, salt. You can add more water if you want a liquid constancy. Cook on medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes. Turn off heat.
  2. Add lemon juice stir, keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds,when the musurd seed pops, add fenugreek seeds, green chills, red chilly powder, hinge curry leaves, garlic cloves, fry them well.
  4. Add this to the dal and garnish with coriander leaves.
  5. You can serve hot plain rice with ghee.
